Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
The RMA credential from AMT has been issued since 1972 and is accepted across physician offices, hospital outpatient departments, and ambulatory surgery centers. Eligibility is broad — AMT accepts formal program graduates, military medical training, and work-experience pathways in addition to accredited-program graduates. The exam covers general medical assisting, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, clinical and administrative procedures, and law and ethics.

Renewal requirements
30 continuing-education credits every 3 years, with at least 10 points in general/clinical topics and the remainder in general, clinical, or administrative categories. AMT also accepts re-examination as a renewal pathway.
